Who Are We
The Mayor and City Council have made it a priority to maintain and improve neighborhoods and build better connections with the community.
City staff members agree that we can play a significant role in those connections. After all, the City Team members already work in the Midtown area and are aware of many of the issues, their history, and active constituents.
City Team members represent all the service departments of the City of Tucson – those departments that interact directly with the public. We have been learning in detail about what other departments are doing, current projects, staff, etc.
Once we learned that we had a lot to know, it became obvious that it is probably daunting for public members to know whom to call and what the City does. So part of our purpose is to make interacting with the City an easier experience as we assist you with your constituent issues.
The City has worked extensively with registered neighborhood associations and the Midtown area has approximately 54 associations. We are looking to expand our base of connections into the business community, faith-based community, businesses and non-profit agencies.
We hope to create partnerships with all these stakeholders in order to be made aware of issues and problems and to get your creative assistance in solving them.
We want to listen to your ideas and share our thoughts as we tackle projects and deliver services. Our goal is to make efficient and effective use of our work efforts and resources, and to make a difference in our City.
If you have any questions about the City Team Midtown, feel free to call Neighborhood Resources at 791-4605 or through 792-CITY (792-2489).

Current Project:
The Tucson Police Department has implemented a Targeted Operational Planning effort in the Alvernon and Grant area to provide businesses and neighborhoods with increased police surveillance and protection against crime. Crime Intelligence Officers, Community Resource Officers, Investigative Bureau analysts, unit supervisors and area police officers are coordinating their efforts to scan and identify conditions warranting further attention in the targeted area.
Midtown City Team members and Ward Offices will also coordinate city services with the Police Department to ensure business owners and residents are able to communicate their issues for response or resolution. Midtown City Team can be contacted at: 792-CITY. Our purpose is to collaborate on multi-faceted projects that one single department can't handle on its own.

Ongoing Neighborhood focus:
The Midtown City Team Subcommittee selected the Midtown Garden District Neighborhood for targeted City Team assistance. The Association President has indicated the many issues her neighborhood faces. The Midtown City Team focused on the Southwest Quadrant of the Midtown Neighborhood to identify improvements that can be made (South of Pima, West of Columbus). Trailer courts are run down and are being evaluated for code violations and contacted to request repairs and cleanup. Ten other properties were inspected and received citations for weeds, junk vehicles, vacant unkempt property, and parking issues. Community Resource Officers are evaluating crime statistics in this area and are providing information for landlords to ensure Crime Free rental agreements are initiated.
The Rosemont West Neighborhood Association brought an issue to Midtown City Team concerning residential care homes in their neighborhood. In a meeting with neighborhood representatives, City Team members outlined Land Use Code requirements for Residential Care Facilities and Group Rehabilitation Facilities in residential neighborhoods and how these family homes must meet ADA and Fair Housing Act requirements for equal housing. Follow-up City contact information was provided to the neighborhood representatives.
