Who Are We
City Team West is one of five teams established by the City of Tucson to help deliver better service to residents by using a “geo-based” (geographically-based) system. The premise of geo-based service delivery is to group City departments that provide services to the community into teams, based on geographical areas—similar to the Tucson Police Department’s division boundaries. Each Team is then able to concentrate on the concerns and issues that affect residents in the same, or nearby, neighborhoods.
The Mayor and City Council have made it a priority to maintain and improve neighborhoods, and we, the City staff who are assigned to work in your area of the City, agree. As City Team members, we are working together…and we want to work with you—residents, business persons, and other stakeholders—to address problems and to make things better in this part of the community.
Building and maintaining connections and creating partnerships are important City Team goals.
We want to share our ideas, and we want to hear from you as we tackle projects and deliver
services. Our goal is to make efficient and effective use of our work efforts and resources, and to make a difference in our City.
Team Co-Chairs, Ivey Schmitz and Bob Shoun, look forward to working with all of the stakeholders in the City Team West area. Ivey lives in the West side area and is the Deputy Director for the City’s Department of Transportation. Bob is a Captain with the Tucson Police Department and is head of the Police Operations Division West. Bob, Ivey, and the rest of the Team emphasize improved communication with residents to ensure that all neighborhood assets are focused on positive change in a coordinated way.
City Team West meets regularly to target the issues you care about and to improve the services we deliver.
