Civil Service Commission (CSC)
Description: Hear appeals by city employees.
12 year term limit.
Maximum Number of Members: 5
Meeting Location: Will specify on meeting notice.
Meeting Time: Meets as required.
Membership Requirements: Resident and Qualified elector of the City of Tucson for five years preceding appointment. Members may not hold any other public office. No more than three members of the same political affiliation shall serve on the Commission.
Tucson Code Section 10A-134(b) provides that members of the Civil Service Commission may serve for no more than two consecutive six-year terms (12 years). Terms expire on the same date as the first regular Mayor and Council meeting in January.
Members may be appointed to fill unexpired terms but if that unexpired term is for more than three years (or in other words, more than 1/2 of the 6 year term), that is considered one full term.
