Tucson Supplemental Retirement System Board of Trustees (TSRS)
Description: Trustee of the city retirement fund.
Exempt from 8 year term limit with exception of the three elected members. Those three elected members are limited to two terms only.
Exempt from all provisions of Tucson Code 10A-134.
Maximum Number of Members: 7
Meeting Location: Finance Conference Room, 5th Floor West, City Hall, 255 W. Alameda
Meeting Time: 2010: 1/21, 2/25, 3/25, 4/22, 5/27, 6/24, 7/22, 8/26, 9/23, 10/22, 11/18, & 12/16, at 8:30 a.m., except 10/22 meeting, location to be announced.
Membership Requirements: Seven members: A chairman, to be appointed by the mayor, subject to the approval of the council; The director of Human Resources or his/her designee; The director of Finance or his/her designee; Two (2) contributing members, known as employee-representative trustees, nominated and elected by the contributing members of the system in a manner that the board shall prescribe by regulation; and One (1) retired member nominated and elected by the retired members of the system in a manner that the Board shall prescribe by regulation One (1) member appointed by the City Manager.
The term of office of board members, other than the Directors of Human Resources and Finance, shall be for three (3) years. Employee-representative members and retiree representative members who have been elected to two (2) consecutive terms shall not be eligible to succeed themselves. The chairman of the board shall be a person of business experience with emphasis on a discipline such as law, retirement administration, accounting or investments, and their term shall be for four (4) years. The Human Resources Director shall serve as secretary of the board.
The City Manager's appointee shall serve at the discretion of the City Manager, shall not be subject to any term limitation and shall be a person of business experience with emphasis on a discipline such as law, retirement administration, accounting or investments.
