Planning Commission (PC)
Description: Advise Mayor and Council and the Department of Urban Planning & Design on the adoption of long-range plans, policies, specific plans, and regulations that affect land use and development.
8 year term limit.
Maximum Number of Members: 13
Meeting Location: Mayor and Council Chambers, 1st Floor, City Hall, 255 W. Alameda
Meeting Time: 2009: 1st Wednesday of each month, at 7:00 p.m.(Joint meeting w/County 2/18); When additional meetings are needed they are held on the 3rd Wednesday each month, 7:00 p.m.
Membership Requirements: Members of the Commission are appointed on the basis of their interest in the city and its future development, particularly as demonstrated by active participation in community affairs directly related to planning issues.
No members shall hold any city, county, or state elective office or be a permanent employee of the City while appointed to the Commission.
Each member of the City Council appoints two (2) members, both of whom must be residents of the city and at least one (1) of whom must be a resident of the Council Member's ward. The Mayor appoints one (1) member who must be a resident of the city.
The term of each member of the Commission is coterminous with the term of the appointing Mayor or Council member, or until a successor on the body is appointed.
