Out of School Program Task Force (OOSPTF)
Description: Duties:
- Review and evaluate the existing Out-of-School Program staffing and training, budget, current program components, and recent and planned program enhancements;
- Analyze existing program survey results from participant, parent, and principal surveys;
- Research the viability of aligning in-school curricula with out-of-school learning activities and resources that are creative, diverse, engaging and responsive to each of the site's communities to ensure that the youth's out-of-school activities complement the learning that takes place during the school day;
- Oversee a qualitative evaluation that takes into consideration all stakeholders and looks into the possibility of engaging a paid evaluator whose purpose would be to assess the program and identify strengths, challenges and opportunities for future progress;
- Provide feedback and recommendations for program enhancements to the Tucson Parks and Recreation Commission ("Commission") and the Mayor and Council's Children, Families, and Seniors Subcommittee.
Report:
- The Task Force shall furnish a final report of its findings and recommendations to the Mayor and Council.
Exempt from Tucson Code 10A-134(c).
The Task Force shall terminate at the earlier date of June 1, 2008, or the date upon which it furnishes its final report to Mayor and Council.
*Consistent with Resolution 20975's extension of the Out of School Program Task Force's term to either February 1, 2009 or the date upon which it furnishes its final report to the Mayor and Council, whichever is earlier, all individual members' terms and oaths are similarly extended.
Maximum Number of Members: 16
Meeting Location: Will specify on meeting notice.
Meeting Time: Meets as required.
Membership Requirements: The Task Force shall be composed of 15 members, who shall serve without compensation, appointed as follows: - Each member of the Council and the Mayor shall appoint one member. - One member shall be appointed by the Tucson Parks and Recreation Commission from its membership. - One member shall be appointed by each of the governing boards of the following school districts: A) Tucson Unified School District. B) Sunnyside Unified School District. C) Vail School District. D) Amphitheater Unified School District. - Three members shall be appointed by the City Manager, one from each of the following professions: A) Behavioral Health. B) Youth Development Coalition (United Way). C) Licensed Child Care Provider. - One non-voting ex officio member from the Arizona Department of Health Services.
Notwithstanding Tucson Code Section 10A-134(c), members of the Task Force may serve concurrently on other City committees, boards, or commissions.
