Records Requests

 

To obtain copies of City Court records:

  • Complete the records request form which is available at the Public Service Information Booth or click
    Records Request Form to view and/or print a .pdf copy of the form.
     
  • Purpose:  State the purpose for obtaining these records (i.e., INS, pre-employment background check, MVD, Probation, Personal Information).
     
  • Type of request:  Uncertified copies, certified copies, printout of case, status letter
     
  • To obtain court summary of active and/or terminated files: Submit a request for a status letter that includes (date of incident/violation date, charge(s), sentence or warrant/default status, final disposition).
     
  • For copies of criminal violations only:  Indicate “criminal charges only”.
     
  • Processing time:  Copies of records are completed in order of receipt of request within three to five business days (requests for cases terminated more than one year, may delay the response time).
     
  • Notification: Upon completion of your request, you will be notified of court costs that are due at time of receipt.  Completed requests may be picked up at 103 E. Alameda, Public Services Lobby, Room 103.  Please do not attempt to pick up your request unless you have received a call from the court.
     
  • Court retention of records: Per Arizona State Law, Limited Jurisdiction Courts keep civil traffic, parking and city ordinance violations one year after file termination date (this is the date that the case was finalized-dismissed, paid in full, time served, etc.), before destruction of file.
     
  • Court retention of criminal records: Criminal misdemeanor and criminal traffic cases are on file five years after termination date (this is the date a case was finalized-dismissed, paid in full, time served, etc.), before destruction of the file. DUI and criminal DV cases are now kept seven years after termination date.
     
  • Court retention of orders of protection records: Protection Orders/Harassment Injunctions may be on file six months to five years, depending upon initiation date of when order was filed. Electronic records may be available if the hard copy is not on file.
  • Fees:

    Per ARS #22-404 Class E & F Court Fees:
    Research and Locate Fee: $17.00 per defendant, per request

    Court Certified Copies: $0.50 per page
    (When copies are requested, no explanation is given as to the case status, court terminology, etc.)

    Certified copies may be used for:

    • Department of Motor Vehicles
    • Arizona State Bar
    • Arizona State Board of Nursing
    • Arizona Racing Commission
    • Immigration (offices outside of Tucson)
    • Other court proceedings

    Uncertified Court Copies: $ 0.50 per page
    (To show files status/completion on court orders including fines, proofs, probation, community service, etc.)

    Uncertified copies may be used for:

    • Personal use

    Printouts: $ 0.50 per page
    (To show file status/completion on court orders including fines, proofs, probation, community service, etc.)

    Printouts may be used for:

    • Pre-employment background checks
    • Personal Use

    Status Letters: Terminated and Pending Cases-$ 0.50 per page

    (To show file status/completion on court orders including fines, proofs, probation, community service, etc.)

    Status letters may be used for:

    • Submitting documents to Immigration (Tucson offices)
    • Pre-employment background checks
    • Status letters will be supplied at $0.50 per page cost, in circumstances where we no longer have record of the case(s) and documentation is required by the requester.

      Record Duplication (Audio CD): $17.00 per CD
