How to Read the Election Summary Report

There are four columns of information (Polling, Early, Provisional, and Total) for each elected office, arranged by Political Party in the following order: Democratic (DEM), Republican (REP), Green (GRN).

Definition of Terms used:
Registered Voters: The number of voters eligible to vote in the City of Tucson 2007 General Election:
  1. You must have resided in the City of Tucson since October 7, and
  2. You must be registered to vote on or before October 8, and
  3. You must be at least 18 years old on Novemer 6.
 
Cards Cast:Number of ballots counted citywide as of the date and time of this report..
 
Num. Report Precincts: Total number of voting areas reporting citywide. This number will always be 128. Voting areas may include more than one precinct (i.e. voting area 164 includes precincts 164, 212 and 330).
 
Num. Reporting:Number of voting areas that have reported and the percentage of voting areas reporting as of the date and time of this report.
 
Polling:    Votes tabulated as the individual voting areas (polling places) report their results.
Early:    Votes tabulated from pre-election day ballots (early ballots).
TBV:     Ballots held back until voting records have been checked for validity (i.e. address changes, etc.), and calculated at a later time.
 
Number of Precincts: This is the total number of voting areas citywide. This number will always be 128.
 
Precincts Reporting: Number of voting areas counted as of this report. This number will change during election night. The percentage column next to the total indicates the percentage of voting areas that have reported for that specific ward as of the date and time of this report.
 
Times Counted: Registered voters in parenthesis will always be 222,348. The percentage column indicates the percent of registered voters that have actually voted as of the date and time of this report.
 
Times Blank Voted: Number of votes that were cast where the voter left the race or proposition blank.
 
Times Over Voted: Number of votes cast for more than one candidate in the race or votes cast for both yes and no on a proposition.
 
Candidate: Total votes so far, per specified candidate. The percentage column indicates the percent of registered voters casting a vote for this candidate.
Write-In Votes: Total votes cast for a write-in candidate. The percentage column indicates the percent of registered voters casting a write-in vote. These are not necessarily valid votes.
