Federal Aid Programs For California Disaster Recovery Following is a summary of key federal disaster aid programs that can be made available as needed and warranted under President Obamas major disaster declaration issued for California.
President Declares Major Disaster For California WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Securitys Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Craig Fugate today announced that federal disaster aid has been made available for California to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by severe winter storms, flooding, and debris and mud flows during the period of January 17 to February 6, 2010.
FEMA/Territory Work To Restore Infrastructure Damaged During September 29, 2009 Earthquake, Tsunami, And Flooding PAGO PAGO, AS -- After a federally declared disaster, funding for the repair or rebuilding of damaged public infrastructure is a critical part of the recovery process. Accordingly, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), through its Public Assistance (PA) Program, will reimburse the Territory of American Samoa for 90% of the eligible cost for emergency measures and permanent restoration. Additionally, the President has authorized 100% Federal share of assistance for a 30 consecutive day period chosen by each applicant for debris clearance and emergency work required as a result of the September 29 disaster.
