Collection Event Saturday, November 9th - Know Where to Throw
Do you ever wonder where you can to to recycle more than paper, bottles and plastic? Gather up all your unwanted stuff and bring it to our community-wide collection event on Saturday, November 9, from 8 a.m. - Noon. Environmental Services, in partnership with the Educational Enrichment Foundation and Tucson Clean and Beautiful will be collecting the following:
- Gently-used clothing and school supplies. These will be used to stock the TUSD clothing bank and to donate to classrooms in need of supplies. Bring us old backpacks, binders and other items that could be used in a classroom. They will be put to good use! Please separate gently used clothing from unusable textiles for easy sorting!
- Old textiles. Any old, unwearable clothes or household linens can be recycled. American Textile Recycling Service will take the materials and shred them so they can be remade into things like building insulation.
- E-waste will also be collected for recycling by Westech Recyclers. E-waste is things like computers, printers, fax machines, battery packs, cellphones, etc. Anything usable will be refurbished and re-used. All hard drive or data storage will be wiped clean so don't worry about security issues. There will be a $5 charge for old televisions or old CRT monitors.
- Document Shredding will be done on site by Iron Mountain Records Management. Gather up all those old personal documents and you can see that they are shredded, making sure that your personal information stays that way. The paper will then be recycled.
