Landfill Groundwater Monitoring Program

Environmental Services Engineering & Technical Support monitors over 160 wells located on or around active or closed landfills and the Price Service Center. These wells are sampled for a wide range of organic and inorganic constituents including volatile organic compounds such as PCE and TCE, and gasoline compounds such as benzene and toluene. Through this monitoring program, Environmental Services Engineering & Technical Support is able to delineate the extent of known contaminant plumes and track the success of the remediation programs used at the various sites.

Among the major sites that Environmental Services Engineering & Technical Support monitors regularly are: Harrison Landfill, Los Reales Landfill, Price Service Center, the Rio Nuevo Project Area, Silverbell Landfill, Tumamoc Landfill, and the Broadway-Pantano WQARF site.  Additionally, Environmental Services Engineering & Technical Support performs investigational groundwater sampling at various closed landfills around the city as part of the Comprehensive Landfill Investigation.
