Arizona Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund

The City of Tucson is a participant in the Arizona Brownfields Revolving Loan Fund (BRLF) which provides 0% loan interest rate loans and grants to non-profit organizations. The funds can be used for remediation activities at properties with documented contamination and for the purchase of environmental insurance. Parties responsible for causing the contamination at the property are not eligible for this program.

Selection of grant and loan recipients is coordinated by the Environmental Services Department with other City departments and economic development entities. Preference will be given to applicants/projects that meet the following criteria:

§ Demonstrated benefit of the project to the community (job creation, reduction of health risks, blight elimination)

§ Complement other City economic development and community revitalization efforts

§ Located within the Rio Nuevo District, Empowerment Zone, Enterprise Zone, and designated Redevelopment Areas citywide

§ Property owner has a business plan for the redevelopment of the property

§ Assessment and/or Remediation Plan approved by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ). For more information about the VRP go to ADEQ’s website at http://www.azdeq.gov/environ/waste/cleanup/vol.html.
