Environmental Services Wins at Annual Road-E-O Competition

On Saturday, May 3, 2008, the Arizona Chapter of the Solid Waste

Association of North America (SWANA) held the statewide Road-E-O competition in Tucson, hosted by City of Tucson Environmental Services. More
than 80 participants representing Arizona municipalities and private waste haulers competed in the Truck, Landfill and Mechanics competition. Environmental Services was well represented in the awards presentation taking 1^st place in the Scraper event (Landfill) and 2^nd place in the Side Loader event (Truck). Additionally, a City of Tucson General Services employee earned 3^rd place in the Mechanics competition. The employees recognized are:

Roger Reeves, Los Reales Landfill 1^st Place Loader event

Ruben Rivera, Residential Collections 2^nd Place Side-loader event

Jo Ann Keller, General Services 3^rd Place Truck Mechanic event

The event was a great success with more than 300 participants, judges and family members in attendance. The Road-E-O recognizes the high level of skill involved with the safe operation of the heavy equipment used by solid waste professionals.
