10-Year Vision: Expand capability to adjudicate cases in City Court in support of a growing police force.

Fiscal Year 2008 Goals – Progress through March 2008:

Add 4.0 City Prosecutor’s Office staff. The City Prosecutor's Office added a prosecutor to its litigation team to prosecute criminal cases including serious injury/death by moving vehicle and DUI. Three court clerks were hired to comply with expansions to victims' rights law made by the Arizona Supreme Court and Arizona Legislature in 2007. Add 7.5 City Court staff. The financial sustainability plan originally called for the addition of 9 staff in Fiscal Year 2008. The staffing goal has since been revised to 7.5 positions in order to hire two systems analysts to meet the programming needs of the court. Two additional senior court clerks have been hired, leaving 1.5 senior court clerk positions to be filled. An additional limited magistrate has been appointed. City Court is currently recruiting for a regular magistrate. Add 1.0 Public Defenders. In the Public Defender’s Office an attorney was added.
