The Official Address Guide for Pima County, Arizona was created in November and December 1999 by the Pima County Development Services Department, Pima County's addressing authority. Its purpose is to provide guidance to those wishing to create or amend an automated file of street addresses to conform to local standards.

The Addressing Standards committee of the City GIS Cooperative recommended that it accept the Guide as the adopted standard for the City of Tucson. This recommendation was accepted during the December 9, 1999 GIS Cooperative meeting. City departments and offices are urged to bring street address automation processes into line with requirements of the Official Address Guide. Use of the Guide will enhance address consistency throughout the City and will significantly support the development and operation of GIS applications.
