Don, Larry, and Linda Coon from PC DSD will start recruitment efforts soon for a new intern. Linda has mentioned the need to obtain new software for the intern position.

Budget requests and available balance - Larry Cassen

The current GIS Cooperative budget balance is $50,413, however the following items have not been reported as deductions yet:

  • $12,000 for the PAG Regional Oblique Imagery Pilot Project (Pictometry Project) - PAG hasn't officially utilized this funding yet.
  • $10,000 for a new plotter for City of Tucson Environmental Services - probably contingent on renewal of WSCA contract.

Steve Whitney, Colleen Rosen, and Larry Cassen are currently working on a revised Intergovernmental Agreement draft for the IDT portal project between the COT and interested parties.

ArcGIS I Class

Don Ijams and Dave Koss announced that they have filled the ArcGIS I class being offered by SAIAT. Ron Platt mentioned having the class in the City I.T. Training room, so that maybe 12 people could benefit from the training.

GIS Cooperative Internet Site - Larry Cassen

Dee Korich from COT Environmental Services has agreed to take over the GIS Cooperative website from Don Ijams by 06/2005.

Open Floor - Members

As a way to assist members by reducing the amount of duplicate emails they receive from the Cooperative, Larry suggests (and thanks to those of you who suggested it as well) that everyone submit their respective email address(es) to the geowiz listserv. This way, you would only be receiving one GIS Cooperative email, instead of multiple emails of the same thing. If you have objections to me doing this, please let me know, and I will email you directly instead. The geowiz listserv will not be used for spam, malicious email, or personal email efforts - it is just used to support the GIS Cooperative.

Todd Sanders, soon to be the ex-director of COT IT, will be celebrating his last days of City glory on Tuesday, 2/22/05, 2:30 P.M. - 4:30 P.M. in the Pueblo Room at COT IT.

One last request - if you know of anyone or any organization that could benefit from membership in the GIS Cooperative, please let Larry Cassen know, along with contact information (if possible).

Next Meeting:

Tuesday, March 15, 2005 / 3:00 P.M / City I.T. Pueblo Room
