June Meeting Agenda – 6/26/2007

1. Agenda

    Attendees introduced themselves. The Executive Board members Blanca Espino and Dave Koss were present.

2. New Business:

  • Anna, Bill, Bryn, Johanna & Peter – Briefly talked about their experiences at the ESRI Conference. General statement from attendees: “It’s awesome and over whelming in a good way.”

    Participation: Anna-3D Geo-Coding, Bill-Metadata, Bryn-Geometric Network, Johanna-Job Tracker, Peter-Green Trans/Ride & Census. There were just to many lectures to attend.

    The group that attended the ESRI Conference suggested for the Co-op to purchase the ESRI Conference CD to have available on the Co-op’s website. Bill or Peter will pursue this more.

  • Dave Koss discussed the Fiscal ’07 – ’08 Budget. There is approximately $80,000 available for training, programs, hardware and other items necessary for the Co-op.

    Dave and Gage Andrews will meet to prepare the paper work for the next budget cycle. A top priority will be pursuing a permanent full-time GIS position to head the Co-op.

  • Mike Gutierrez talked about PAG’s Ortho ’08 Project. 4-inch and 1-foot Imagery is what was agreed upon. All jurisdictional boundaries are to be included in flight; also 1-10 towards Benson, Red Rock & Saddlebrook. Flight date is set for April & May 2008.
  • Peter Johnson talked about ESRI Patches for COT/DOT, which is available for COT/DOT employees only. He stated that an FTP Server is needed in order for other GIS Co-op members to access data.
  • Linda Myers & Dee Korich – were each given a “Recognition Award” for their efforts in assisting the Co-op. Linda for keeping us in order, and Dee for maintaining the Co-op’s website. Thank you both for being a big part of the Co-op.
  • Dave Koss announced the “ArcGIS Level I training” by Cody Cohn on Wed. & Thurs., Aug 15-16, 2007 in the PWB basement. 14 seats are available for local government jurisdiction staff only:

    DM-4 taken, COT-2 taken, MAR-2 taken, OV-2, SAH-2, PC-2. Please contact Peter Johnson to reserve a seat or put your name on the list for seat availability.

    Dave also mentioned there will be an Intro ArcGIS class held every quarter throughout the year. Seats will be available to all active Co-op members. More details to come in future meetings and Co-op e-mails.

  • Jennifer Sborvo distributed flyers and discussed the SAIAT Training for ArcGIS Geodatabase II & Linear Referencing on August 27-30, 2007. The cost is $1,500 per person. 15% discount is given to Co-op members. Please contact Jennifer for registration or more information.
  • Blanca Espino introduced ’07 – ’08 GIS Coop Co-Chairs and solicited for a 6th Co-Chair. Roxanne Linsley volunteered the following day. So now we have a complete team….yeah!!! Congratulations to you all and we’re wishing you a successful year in leading the Co-op to new heights.

3. Open Floor:

    Dave Koss asked if anyone was using Windows Vista with ArcGIS and if they were having any issues.

    John Dickinson briefly talked about the “Special Achievement in GIS (SAG) Award” that was given to Pima County Technical Services at the 27th annual ESRI International User Conference in San Diego. Pima County was chosen to receive this award from over 100,000 user sites worldwide. Goto "What's New" section on the GIS Co-op home page and view the “Memo from Chuck Huckelberry to PC Board of Supervisors” and the “GIS Project Information document” that won them the award. Congratulations Pima County Technical Services Team! What an honor to receive such an award and recognition.

    And a special thanks to EnotecA for catering the social. The food was great and there was plenty of networking going on. Thanks all for coming!
