July Meeting Minutes – 7/15/2008

Agenda: Business/planning meeting, discussion topic is "The Future of the Co-op."

Discussion Points:

• Historically the budget has been an important aspect of the Co-op’s purpose. Co-op has used it to meet needs (training, licensees, intern) throughout the City.
• Without a budget, the Co-op still has purpose as it fosters an environment for conversation, networking and connectivity between GIS professionals scattered across government and private sector agencies.
• Meeting format will become less focused on “presentations” and become more of a user group. Proposed suggestions:

- A “show & tell” where everyone spends 5-10 minutes sharing what they are working on

- Watching a conference session with follow-up discussion

- Beginning the new (fiscal) year by sharing everyone’s goals

- Web site clean-up and reformatting (decided that chairs would meet first and present to group)

- Presentation on what other Citys are doing with GIS

- Having some standing agenda items such as PAG 08 orthos, the intern, Cadastral Fabric, AGIC updates (Steve)

• Utilizing PAG’s training opportunities and possibly providing our own, however that has the potential to overlap with the PC’s technical group
• Explore grant opportunities – there are GIS related links on ESRI’s web site
• Created outline of meeting topics for next 6 months
