The IT department:
Provides strong technology leadership for the city by advising the mayor and council, the city manager and department directors on technology-related issues and by partnering with local education, economic development and professional organization;
Evaluates emerging technologies and make recommendations on their fit within the city;
Establishes and maintains appropriate market-driven technology standards, developed with the input and assistance of other city departments;
In consultation with city departments, researches and implements best practices for technology project management and help ensure that projects are successfully planned, scheduled, budgeted, and managed;
Assists City departments in planning and implementing technology initiatives; and
Manages citywide assets such as network servers, multi-use computers and enterprise applications.
