Radio Interoperability
Tucson and Pima County are working together to build an interoperable radio communications system for the community’s first responders.
VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol)
The project is underway to implement this system citywide in Fiscal Year 2007. Within three years, reduced phone charges are expected to cover the cost of the project implementation.
HR/Payroll System/Payroll
The City’s HR system is outdated and doesn’t provide sufficient functionality. A project is underway to evaluate alternatives to the legacy system, including a managed service approach.
Document Management System
A document management system, SIRE, has been chosen. The first implementations will be for the Mayor and Council Agenda management and in the Development Services Department to manage all the documents associated with an address.
GIS Cooperative – mapping the future
The City of Tucson has formalized the existence and function of a GIS Cooperative. During early years, members of the Cooperative were, for the most part, employees of the City of Tucson who had developed expertise in the use of geographic information systems (GIS) as a part of their duties. In 2004, membership was expanded to include more representatives from other incorporated jurisdictions, Pima Association of Governments, The University of Arizona, utilities and private sector firms.
Business License Management System
The Business License Management System (BLMS) Replacement Project is a team effort with team members from many different City departments as well as the two primary departments, IT and Finance. The purpose of the BLMS Replacement Project is to provide a replacement for the current BLMS system which has been in use, virtually unchanged for over 15 years. The analysis phase of the project, completed in November of 2004, defined the processes and requirements of the new system. Since the completion of the analysis phase, the project has split into two parallel phases, an RFP for a replacement system and a set of small "Opportunities for Improvement" projects identified during the previous analysis phase. |
