NEIGHBORHOOD SPOTLIGHT: MIDVALE PARK - At a recent neighborhood association meeting on the citys southwest side, Midvale Park residents convened to discuss community issues, get to know each other, and have fun. Getting to know your neighbors is probably the best thing that you can do in your community and I know a lot of the neighbors very personally now, says association president Joe Miller. When the different parts of the Tucson government know who the neighbors in that place are they can really address the needs in that area much more quickly. From Tucson 12.


AGENDA SPOTLIGHT: POVERTY AND URBAN STRESS REPORT - Staff is recommending that M&C adopt the 2012 Poverty and Urban Stress Report at tomorrows Study Session. It is also being recommended that the report be updated annually. The report provides information on current social and economic indicators of community need. Staff from Housing and Community Development have taken the report into consideration in drafting goals and strategies for the reduction of poverty in Plan Tucson, the proposed General Plan M&C will have the option of referring to the ballot later this year. CONTRACT OPPORTUNITY: RESIDENTIAL MOVING SERVICES - The City of Tucson is seeking a contractor to provide residential moving services for its housing programs. The types of moves may vary including moving from one location to another or from one unit to another within the same complex. Successful bidders must operate vehicles that fit within the size requirements stated in Tucson City Code 20-17, and abide by other applicable laws. Bids are due May 14th at 4 p.m. A pre-bid conference will be held April 30th at 10:30 a.m. Read the RFP here.

FIESTA GRANDE PARA UN GRAN BARRIO - Con 11 años de renombre, Fiesta Grande nuevamente trajo felicidad a las calles del Barrio Hollywood. Como todos los años, contaron con riquísima comida mexicana, puestos de artesanías y muchos juegos para la diversión de los pequeños y también de los adultos. PARKS & REC BIKE RENTAL PILOT PROGRAM LAUNCHED, BIKE DONATIONS WELCOME - The Parks & Rec department is now renting bicycles at eastside Lincoln Park for use on the newly constructed Atterbury Wash Greenway Path. It's a chance for bicycle lovers to enjoy the park, without the hassle of buying a bike or having to transport it from home, says Liz Baechler of Parks & Rec. The program currently has eight bikes available for rent and welcomes donations for more. For information on how to donate a bike, contact Baechler at (520) 837-8103. From KVOA.
