FALLEN SOLDIERS TO BE HONORED AT TUCSON CEMETERIES THIS WEEKEND - In partnership with local veterans' organizations and other community groups, Memorial Day ceremonies will be held at Evergreen, South Lawn and East Lawn this weekend. On Monday morning Evergreen Cemetery will receive a National Guard Fly over at 9 a.m., with guest speakers and presentations by Veterans, a flag presentation and wreath laying ceremony followed by Taps and a 21-gun salute. At East Lawn and South Lawn, beginning tomorrow at 7 a.m., veterans' organizations and Boy Scouts will place flags on veterans' graves. At South Lawn on Monday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Vet Center's Mobile Unit will be set up to assist veterans with resources and benefit information. From KOLD/KMSB.

AMPLÍAN Y MODERNIZAN CLÍNICA EL RIO - Tras años de planes, sudor y esfuerzos por un grupo de soñadores de la década de los sesentas, el centro médico El Rio abrió sus flamantes puertas en 1978, como una oda de concreto, hierro y vidrio en la lucha por el bienestar y la salud de los más desamparados de Tucsón. Pero ahora, la clínica que le ha declarado la guerra a la diabetes, que ha sido el sitio de los alumbramientos de innumerables niños latinos y luego de su cuidado dental, está a punto de ser demolida para dar paso así a la construcción de un nuevo edificio que promete superar con creces al actual. AGENDA SPOTLIGHT: ENHANCING TUCSON'S DOMESTIC PARTNERSHIP ORDINANCE - At their Study Session next Wednesday, M&C will discuss potential amendments to the Tucson Domestic Partnership Ordinance to enhance the City's support for domestic partnerships and civil unions. Enhancements could include the issuance of Domestic Partnership or Civil Union certificates, recording of documents pertaining to agreements between individuals in Domestic Partnerships or Civil Unions, and the rights of such individuals to be designated as beneficiaries under City benefit programs. PHOTOS: ARTWORK INSTALLED FOR 4TH AVENUE STREETCAR STOP - On Wednesday, Workers from Progressive Hardscapes laid down the mosaic tile artwork on one of the modern streetcar stops on North Fourth Avenue between Sixth and Seventh Streets. SUN TRAN ON HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR MEMORIAL DAY - Sun Tran buses will operate on a Sunday schedule on Memorial Day, Monday, May 27. Express buses will not be in operation. Downtown Loop will not be in operation, and Sun Tran's administrative office will be closed. Regular service will resume Tuesday, May 28th. From KOLD/KMSB.
