Tucson’s “Spotlight Conversation on Climate Action” was a great success with over 100 community members in attendance. If you missed the Spotlight Conversation, you can view the presentations by clicking on the link to the left. You can also stay updated on the City and County climate change planning processes by sending an email to nicole.urban-lopez@tucsonaz.gov with City/County Climate Change Planning in the subject line. |
The Tucson event was hosted in partnership by the City of Tucson, Pima County, and The University of Arizona. The organizers’ goals were to educate the community about the challenges of climate change in southern Arizona, and to discuss the community’s values, perceptions, and priorities regarding climate change mitigation and adaptation.
The input received from the community at the Conversation on Climate Action will contribute to the development of the City's Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Plan and the City’s General Plan update. Community recommendations that grow out of the event will also help inform the County’s Comprehensive Plan Update and the University's President's Climate Commitment Plan.
Tucson was one of an elite group of 10 communities that were selected by ICLEI-Local Governments for Sustainability to be highlighted nationally. This event was part of the National Conversation on Climate Action series of local-level community engagement events taking place nationwide on Earth Day.
