OLD TIME FIDDLE MUSIC TO FILL THE AIR AT REID PARK FEB. 22

The sounds of fiddle music will fill the air at Reid Park, 22nd and Country Club, Sunday, Feb. 22, when the 69th Annual Old Time Fiddle Contest gets underway.

Fiddlers of all ages will gather at the DeMeester Performing Arts Center, beginning at

10 a.m., to compete for trophies, ribbons and $2,000 in cash prizes.

Admission to the event, featuring 10 categories of competition, is free to the public. Registration opens on the day of the event at 9 a.m., and entry fees are $10 for all categories, except the Pee Wee and Junior-Junior divisions, which are free.

The event attracts approximately 1,000 spectators each year. Free overnight parking is available at the site, and free overnight camping is available Thursday through Monday.

Hosted by the Tucson Parks and Recreation Department, the contest is co-sponsored by the Southern Arizona Old Time Fiddlers Association.
