1. Who can I ask about my Land Use Code questions? You may call (520) 791-5550 and ask for the Zoning Information Desk to speak to a Development Services Department staff member. This service is available 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday (except holidays). 2. Why do I see only the Table of Contents when I open the Land Use Code on the web? The Land Use Code is broken down on our site into many small documents in order to expedite download time. These documents are linked by bookmarks in a navigation panel on the left side of the PDF pages. The first document to open is the Table of Contents. Click on the bookmarks to open other sections of the Code or other helpful supplementary documents. Some of the bookmarks may be expanded by clicking on the "+" sign next to them at the left. If your browser does not open the Land Use Code files, you may need to click on the "Refresh" or "Reload" button. If this does not work, go to question 3.

3. Why do I get an error message when I click on the bookmarks in the Code Table of Contents? The links between the separate Land Use Code sections are set up as relative links on the Planning Department site. This requires that the preferences in the users' Adobe® Acrobat® Reader® software be set to "view in browser." You may download the latest version of this free plug-in by clicking on the "Get Acrobat Reader" link below the navigation bar to the left and follow the manufacturer's instructions to install the software. To set the preferences to "view in browser," open Acrobat® Reader®, open the Edit menu, choose preferences, general, options, and check the "view in browser" box.

4. How can I find out the zoning on a piece of property? You may call the Zoning Information Desk listed in question 1 above or click on the following link to go to a grid map of Tucson and follow the instructions at the top of that page to proceed. City of Tucson Grid Map.

5. What type of use is allowed in my zone? Click on the following link and go to page two for a brief description of uses allowed in each zone. For more zoning information, use the links on page one to go to corresponding sections of the Land Use Code. Summary of Zoning Classifications

6. How close to my property line can I build an addition or an accessory structure? Setbacks are dependent on the height of the proposed structure. See question 7 to link to Code regulations about how to measure the height of a structure. The next step in finding out your setbacks is to determine the zoning of your property and the properties adjacent to yours. See question number 4 above. If the adjacent properties are zoned the same as yours, side and rear yard setbacks are listed in the last column in the following link. 10. How can I print or download the entire Land Use Code. The Land Use Code is published in many small PDF documents on our site to allow quicker downloading.
