Goals and Objectives for the Tucson Shovel-nosed Snake
Implementation of anticipated covered activities may result in the loss of potential habitat in Avra Valley as a result of water development projects. Direct take of snakes is not likely. Mortality may occur when snakes are hit by vehicles while crossing roads. The indirect effects of these development projects may impact the snake through impacts to soil conditions, loss of native vegetation, reduction in native prey base, disturbance by humans, e.g., construction and facility maintenance activities. This species is not known to occur within areas that have been developed.
