PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE
RINCON SOUTHEAST SUBREGIONAL PLAN
MAP DETAIL #16 - VALENCIA/ALVERNON
APPROXIMATELY 700-ACRES

INFORMATION ON A PROPOSED PLAN AMENDMENT TO THE RINCON SOUTHEAST SUBREGIONAL PLAN:

• In 2007 the Department of Urban Planning and Design (DUPD) initiated a planning exercise to develop a map detail to the Rincon Southeast Subregional Plan (RSSP), with the goal to amend the RSSP to provide land use guidance for the approximately 700-acre site, located at the southeast corner of Valencia Road and Alvernon Way. This planning exercise was initiated by a request from the property owner, the Arizona State Land Department as part of the City of Tucson pre-annexation development agreement (*see annexation links below).
• On March 27, 2007, DUPD held a neighborhood meeting with area residents to share information on the proposed RSSP amendment.
• On May 2, 2007 a Study Session was held before the Planning Commission to consider the proposed Map Detail as an amendment to the RSSP. The Study Session was continued to the June of 2007 Planning Commission meeting date.
• Tentatively scheduled for June of 2007 is a continued Study Session before the Planning Commission to further consider the proposed Map Detail as an amendment to the RSSP.
• Tentatively scheduled for July of 2007 is a Public Hearing before the Planning Commission to consider the proposed Map Detail as an amendment to the RSSP.
• Tentatively scheduled for August of 2007 is Public Hearing before Mayor and Council to consider the proposed Map Detail as an amendment to the RSSP
• As part of the Public Hearing process, surrounding land owners with properties located within 300 feet of the site, including those across Valencia Road, Alvernon Way, Swan Road and Los Reales Road will be notified of each of the up coming public meetings. The general public is encouraged to participate.
