Current American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Funding to be Received by the City of Tucson: $52.1 million

What the ARRA Means for the City of Tucson

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) was signed into law on February 17, 2009. The City of Tucson Mayor and Council immediately viewed this legislation as an instrument to fill the funding gaps caused by an unprecedented economic downturn. Accordingly, they charged the City Manager and City staff to aggressively pursue all possible grants and awards available to our community through the program.

This provides an excellent opportunity for the private sector, non-profit organizations and local governments to work together to retool the economy, obtain a global advantage and improve our quality of life. Stimulus dollars will be used to create energy efficient buildings, green and intermodal transportation systems, sustainable infrastructure projects and new jobs.

We have developed this website to give you up-to-date information on Tucson’s recovery successes and to link you to other local, state and federal recovery efforts.

Funding will lower energy use, save money, create jobs, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions 

(Nov. 10, 2009) The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has awarded the City of Tucson a $5.1 million Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant.
