Funding to be Received by the City of Tucson: $56.3 million

Funds Awarded (pdf)

Stimulus Money is Working for Tucson

In February 2009, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) was signed into law. One year later, this legislation continues to help the City of Tucson fill funding gaps caused by the national economic downturn.

To date, the City has been awarded tens of millions in ARRA funding . Additional funds are also being allocated to Pima County . This money is allowing the private sector, non-profit organizations and local governments to work together on a variety of priorities and goals.

Locally, stimulus dollars are being used for energy-efficient buildings, green and intermodal transportation systems, sustainable infrastructure projects and new jobs. Specific City of Tucson projects range from expanding a neighborhood and recreation center to maintaining sustainable investment in law enforcement and prosecution to investing in public transportation infrastructure.

This website has up-to-date information on Tucson 's recovery projects and program (including Community Success Stories) and also includes links to other local, state and federal recovery efforts.

City Awarded $4.2 Million to Stabilize Neighborhoods and Economy

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has awarded $4.2 million to the City of Tucson in Recovery Act funding under HUD's Neighborhood Stabilization Program 2 (NSP2).

The City's Housing and Community Development Department will use the money to purchase about 70 single-family foreclosed homes for rehabilitation, resale and rental with the NSP2 funds. Homes in high foreclosure targeted areas within the city limits will be rehabilitated and made as environmentally-friendly as possible.

We will continue to showcase projects as they unfold.
