Three NEA Stimulus Grants Awarded To Tucson Organizations
The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) has awarded three of its four grants in the state of Arizona to Tucson organizations. This funding is provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). Tucson 's total funding was $100,000 of the $150,000 made available. Local recipients are:
The Arizona Theatre Company (ATC) – $50,000
The funding will be used to secure the positions of the ATC's two Education Managers who coordinate and execute the company's 10 education related programs. ATC is a professional institute of performing arts and is committed to provide theatre engagement opportunities that open doors to an appreciation of live performance.

The Drawing Studio, Inc. – $25,000
The funding provides partial salary support for directors of two core programs. The Summer/Youth Outreach Program serves young people and provides studio art programs for children ages 9-18 and outreach to K-12 schools. The Outreach Art Tutoring for Seniors program serves seniors who can't access traditional adult programs by providing classes at neighborhood and senior centers, libraries, and retirement communities.

Borderlands Theater Teatro Fronterizo Inc. – $25,000
The funding will help retain staff to continue the development and production of theater and educational programs. Borderlands' Education Outreach Programs serve both youth and general audiences with special matinee performances, study guides and other activities.
