To help ensure that future City retirees have adequate retirement income, the City offers several optional retirement savings opportunities to employees.
Frequently Asked Questions about Deferred Compensation
All permanent, benefit-eligible, employees may participate in the City’s Deferred Compensation Plan administered by ICMA Retirement Corporation (ICMA-RC). Employees may join year-round. (Note: Sworn fire personnel have a second option for deferred compensation and should contact their representative for more information)
Section 401(a) - Defined Contribution Program
All permanent, benefit-eligible, employees may participate in the City's 401(a) plan administered by ICMA Retirement Corporation (ICMA-RC). For 2009, a final enrollment period is available, during the period November 1st to December 30th. Following this final enrollment, newly hired employees may elect to participate during their first 60 days of employment only. Contact the Retirement office for information at 791-4598.
