|Public Information Intern- Environmental Services
Hiring Salary: $11.31 per hour
This is a nonpermanent position. It is designed and intended to provide entry level work experience for college students who meet the minimum qualifications. This position will have a work schedule of approximately 20 hours per week; scheduling is flexible and may be tailored to class schedules or other activities. No benefits are offered with this position and nonpermanent employees may not work more than 1,500 hours per fiscal year (July 1-June 30). This internship is structured to be a two month internship.
A writing and proofreading skills tests will be part of the application process
Examples of essential duties may include assisting with:
Write short articles relating to activities in the Environmental Services Department for use in bill inserts and news releases.
Contribute content to the department and City of Tucson's social media sites (Facebook and Twitter)
Assist with maintenance of the department website (using Drupal, a widely used open source content management system).
Assist with coordination and implementation of communication strategies.
Must be an enrolled university student with at least 35 units completed coursework in news writing or experience as a non-fiction writer.
Demonstrated proficiency in news writing, feature writing and proofreading.
Demonstrated commitment to meeting employer expectations for dependability and integrity.
Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications include:
Experience with Word and Publisher
Experience with Social Media Tools including Facebook and Twitter
Strong writing skills
This position will require a satisfactory background check and motor vehicle history report. Employment offers are contingent upon successfully passing any of the above requirements.
