IT ANALYST - SECURITY CERTIFIED
(Systems Analyst under-fill)

Grade: 712 - Salary Range: $40,352 - $66,518 annually


SYSTEMS ANALYST - SECURITY CERTIFIED

Grade: 714 Salary Range: $47,819.20 - $78,873.60 Annually


The Information Technology Department is a 24/7 operation. The incumbent will be required to serve in an on-call status to respond to requests and emergencies occurring after normal business hours.

There is currently one vacancy within the Public Safety Division (PSD) of Information Technology (IT). This position's primary focus will be to support the Tucson Fire Department and may support the Tucson Police Department at times. Public Safety is an exciting business with over 700 employees for Tucson Fire, over 1400 in Law Enforcement and 60 in Communications. IT PSD supports these department's business needs. The IT Department is looking for a self driven person with great technical and communication skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - IT ANALYST:
  • Two years of post high school education in the field of Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a directly related field

  • IT SPECIALIST - SECURITY CERTIFIED
    Grade: 919 Salary Range: $20.34 - $31.62 per hour


    The City of Tucson is seeking a problem solving, solution and detail oriented individual with great customer service skills for the IT Service Desk. The IT Service Desk is responsible for providing end user technical support via telephone, email and remote desktop control. Responsibilities include heavy contact with customers, installing and maintaining computer hardware and software, troubleshooting problems and providing technical assistance to end users of desktop hardware and software, printers, wireless and mobile devices, and various peripherals.

    The selected candidate may be required to be available for a rotating schedule of on-call support after hours and on weekends and holidays.

    There is currently one vacancy located with the City of Tucson Information Technology department. The position requires great customer service and teamwork, the ability to lift up to 30 pounds, and a valid driver's license.

    The City of Tucson Information Technology Department, IT Service Desk provides technical service and support across the City. Some of the offices and departments supported include the Mayor's and City Manager's Offices, Finance, Human Resources, and General Services, as well as public safety departments (Tucson Fire and Tucson Police), and public works departments (Transportation, Tucson Water, and Planning and Development Services)

    QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid driver's license

  • Six months post high school training in a field related to computer hardware and software

  • Two years experience providing computer hardware and software technical support in a networked environment

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the ability to successfully perform the essential functions may be considered

    WEB DEVELOPER

    The City of Tucson Information Technology Department is looking for a motivated customer-oriented individual to work with a small team in the development, design, maintenance and troubleshooting of the City's web presence and infrastructure. This is a hands-on technical position. The candidate should have an understanding of web content management systems, the latest web technologies and current best-practices in user-focused web design and development.

    The successful candidate will maintain and improve the City's web presence and infrastructure and work with the web team to resolve problems and develop web-based applications.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related field

  • Over 5 years experience in web development, administration, design, and current scripting languages, web servers and web development environments experience

  • A valid driver's license is required

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position may be considered

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Tucson Police Department security clearance - extensive criminal background check, polygraph examination and drug screen required

  • Experience building templates in, developing websites in and administering the Drupal web content management system

    The Security Certified Network Engineer administers, installs, designs and monitors City of Tucson networks for performance and security.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field

  • Three (3) years working experience in network administration

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position may be considered

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Tucson Police Department (TPD) security clearance - extensive background check, polygraph examination and drug screen required


  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    Certification as a Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).


    COMPUTER OPERATOR
    Information Technology Department
    Salary Range: $12.93 - $20.09 hourly


    The Information Technology Department is seeking a Computer Operator to process and run computer production jobs in the City's data center using mainframe and minicomputer systems. This position is responsible for the execution and monitoring of the daily production schedule, taking corrective action when problems occur and delivering production output.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent

  • At least one year of experience in mainframe and minicomputer systems operation



  • DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR
    Grade: 715 - Salary Range: $52,936 - $87,318 annually

    The Information Technology Department is a 24/7 operation. The incumbent will be required to serve in an on-call status to respond to requests and emergencies occurring after normal business hours.


    This is a security certified position. The successful candidates will be required to pass an extensive criminal background check conducted by the Tucson Police Department as well as a polygraph examination.Currently, there are two vacancies to be filled.

    The Information Technology Department is seeking a dynamic team-player with both technical and communication skills. This position requires strong administrative experience in the Oracle (10g and higher), and SQL Server (2005 and higher) environments. Candidates should have strong skills in structured query language (DDL and DML), experience with database backup and recovery methods, and an understanding of database design and performance tuning techniques and concepts. The ideal candidate will be able to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical people, bridging the gap between business rule analysis and database development and implementation.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a directly related field

  • Over three years experience in database development and administration

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position may be considered

    The Information Technology Department is a 24/7 operation. Incumbents will be required to serve in an on-call status to respond to requests and emergencies occurring after normal business hours.

    The Security Certified Systems Administrator installs, administers, troubleshoots, and maintains local area network servers and networking hardware, local area network server operating systems, SAN storage, and the City's enterprise e-mail application and hardware. Provides assistance in resolving problems, setting policies, administrative procedures, local area network security, and local area network planning and direction.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science or related field

  • Three (3) years working experience in local area network administration

  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of this position may be considered

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Tucson Police Department (TPD) security clearance - extensive background check, polygraph examination and drug screen required

    COMMUNICATIONS ENGINEER - SECURITY CERTIFIED
    Salary Range: $52,686 - 88,524 annually
    Salary will be dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.


    A Communications Engineer is responsible for the research, design, cost estimation, specification, proposal evaluation, selection, procurement, installation, acceptance testing and project management of specialized communications systems for various City departments.

    • Designs and engineers public safety two-way radio systems for conventional, trunked, analog and digital voice, mobile data systems, microwave systems and data networking

    • Organizes the design, construction and acquisition of major public safety communications systems, established operating standards for systems, recommends solutions and manages specialized communications systems projects for City departments; and provides technical communications support to City departments.

    • Communicates with management, vendors, contractors, public officials, City departments and the general public to coordinate special projects and maintain a master plan for communications growth and improvement.

    • Prepares and develops FCC license documents and other written correspondence, plans, proposals, specifications and documents.

    • Reviews final plans, specifications, agreements and contractor work and crews to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures for communications systems.


    QUALIFICATIONS:
    A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Electronics Engineering or related engineering field. Five years experience in designing and/or modifying radio communication systems. Related experience and training will be considered.
