Recycling in Tucson and Pima County

Residents and businesses of Pima County, including the City of Tucson, have multiple options to recycle many valuable commodities. The items taken and availability of service depend both on your location and kind of housing or facility. If you live in a multi-housing site (apartments, mobile home park, etc.), please contact the property manager first about the availability of recycling. If you have any additional questions, please visit the Tucson Recycles web page or call the Tucson Clean and Beautiful Recycling Info Line, at 791-5000.

City of Tucson

General recycling information: 791-5000
Customer service (missed pickup or container issues): 791-3171

TucsonRecycles is the primary option for residents and businesses within the city limits. Besides the Blue Barrel for individual customers (single homes up to four-plexes and certain mobile home parks, condominiums and businesses), there are shared large plastic and metal containers as well as 14 drop-off sites listed under “Neighborhood Recycling Centers”. Other private haulers operating in the City of Tucson may also provide recycling collection to their customers. They are listed in the “Recycling & Waste Collection Services” section.

Wherever you see a container with the TucsonRecycles sign, you can recycle the right way by disposing only of these items in it:

Newspapers, Brown Paper Bags, Corrugated Cardboard, Paperboard, Milk Cartons and Drink Boxes, Molded Fiberboard, Magazines and Catalogs, Phonebooks, Printing and Writing Paper, Mail, #1 (PETE) and #2 (HDPE) Plastic Bottles and Jugs, Aluminum cans, Steel and Tin Cans, and Glass Food and Beverage Bottles and Jars

Please note that any other item – even those with a recycling sign – will not be accepted at the Materials Recovery Facility.

Neighborhood Recycling Centers

There are 14 recycling drop-off sites operated by City of Tucson Environmental Services, for the convenience of those residents and businesses who either don’t have a recycling service at their home, or have a temporary increase of recyclable materials (such as cardboard boxes after moving). Davis-Monthan Air Force Base also hosts a recycling drop-off site; base access is required for this site (not open to the general public).

Locations are subject to change. A map of Neighborhood Recycling Centers is available, corresponding to the list below. If your nearest site is no longer available please call 791-5000 for assistance with locating an alternate site.
