On Monday, July 28, 2014, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the roadway conditions on Sixth Street from Campbell Avenue to Country Club Road. The pavement improvement project is part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.
The project will begin with crews lowering manhole covers and water valve covers. This work will take place from Monday, July 28, 2014 through Friday, August 1, 2014. Work hours are 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. During the utility lowering phase of the project at least one lane of travel in each direction will be maintained.
On Monday, August 4, 2014, crews will begin a full-depth mill (removing asphalt) and repaving on Sixth Street. The milling and repaving is scheduled to be complete by Friday, August 15, 2014. The milling and paving operations will take place from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. At least one lane of travel in each direction will be maintained during this work.
Residential and business access will be maintained at all times during the project, except for when heavy equipment is directly in front of a driveway. Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work area. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
