Kolb Road and 22nd Street

KOLB ROAD - GOLF LINKS ROAD TO GRANT ROAD/WILMOT ROAD
AND 22ND STREET - KOLB ROAD TO SWAN ROAD RESURFACING PROJECT

On Tuesday, March 18, 2014, crews from Granite Construction Co., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin work to improve the roadway conditions on Kolb Road from Golf Links Road to Wilmot Road via Grant Road north of Tanque Verde Road and 22nd Street from Kolb Road to Swan Road. These pavement improvement projects are part of the $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery. The Road Recovery program is funded by voter-approved bonds.

Both projects will begin with crews lowering manhole covers and water valve covers. This work will take place Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. During the utility lowering phase of the projects crews will close one travel lane while maintaining two travel lanes in each direction.

During the week of March 24, 2014, crews will begin the milling (removing asphalt) and paving operations on both Kolb Road and on 22nd Street. To minimize the impact on the traveling public, crews will mill and pave Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. This work will require the closure of two travel lanes in the work area, leaving one travel lane open to traffic. The travel lane restrictions will be in place only during work hours.

Both roadway improvement projects are scheduled to be complete by Friday, April 18, 2014.

Residential and business access will be maintained at all times during the project.  Please obey all traffic control signs and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work area. The schedule is subject to change due to equipment malfunction or inclement weather.
