I wanted to invite you to join Ward 1 in PARK (ing) Day. It's September 19 and it celebrates Parks. Our office is buying a parking space in front of City Hall and turning it into a park and we invite you to do the same. Teya Vetu did a story on it.

• How many parks will sprout at Tucson's parking spots is unknown, but people who want to create a car-length park on Sept. 19 can contact local PARK(ing) day coordinator Jody Blaylock at jmblaylock@yahoo.com.

• Participants are asked to call MaryLou Ramirez at ParkWise at 791-5071 to get a parking spot downtown or on University Boulevard (Main Gate Square) or Carmen Delahanty at UA for a parking space on campus.

The cost to occupy a downtown space all day is $4.50, $9 at Main Gate, and $10 on the UA campus.
