Regina's Message 9.23.11

Dear Friends and Neighbors:

I wanted to make sure you saw that Tucson was listed as the No. 2 “Best Town in America” in the October issue of Outside Magazine. I’m very proud of our City and so pleased that they highlight our strong connection to science at the U of A and Raytheon, two of our largest employers.

Save the Date – October 1st Science Festival and Movie in the Park

Science is the theme of the 2nd Annual Movie in the Park with Cox Communications, Arizona Technology Council, and the Ward 1 and Ward 5 City Council offices. To help educate our youngest workforce about the benefits of science and technology, we are having a festival with science-based fun attractions for young people.

Please mark your calendar for October 1 at 4 p.m. and plan to bring your family and friends to Kennedy Park Fiesta Grounds, one of our most beautiful City parks with lots of grass for watching a movie under the stars. Tucson’s young students are our future UA grads, and UA’s programs in science and technology provide long-term high wage jobs for our future. We’ll be showing “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs,” where a young girl learns the importance of science and making a difference in our world.

Kennedy Park Fiesta Area is located at 3700 S. La Cholla Blvd at Ajo Way. The best way to get there is to take I-19 to the Ajo Way exit and head west. Go north on La Cholla and it's your first left into the parking lot. The fiesta grounds are on your left as you enter.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Regina Romero

PS- Don't forget that Ward I is a donation drop-off site for the Community Food Bank and the Southern Arizona Diaper Bank.
