The Ward 5 Council Office will be hosting a community forum on Thursday, February 13, at the El Pueblo Senior Center, 101 W. Irvington, starting at 6 pm.

City and county departments will be on hand to provide information and to answer questions for neighborhood residents.

Road Work Update

GLENN STREET CHIP SEAL – CRAYCROFT ROAD TO
SAHUARA AVENUE

On Wednesday, January 8, 2014, the City of Tucson Department of
Transportation (TDOT) and Western Emulsions will begin a chip seal
project on Glenn Street from Craycroft Road to Sahuara Avenue.

TDOT crews have prepared the roadway for the chip seal application by
repairing potholes and sweeping the roadway. At about 10 a.m. on
Wednesday, crews will begin the chip seal process. The work is scheduled
to be complete by 3 p.m. the same day.

Happy New Year!

Councilmember Richard Fimbres and his staff want to wish everyone a Happy New Year.  The Ward 5 office will be closed December 31 and January 1 and will be open again on January 2.


Trash Pickup Holiday Update

Due to the Christmas holiday and New Year's Day, residential and commercial trash and recycling will not be collected on either Wednesday. Residents and businesses with regular Wednesday, Thursday
or Friday collections will have their trash and recycling services delayed
by one day during the holiday weeks. The Los Reales Landfill will be closed
Dec. 25, and Jan. 1. For landfill information call 791-5151.

Thanksgiving Holiday

Councilmember Richard Fimbres and the Ward 5 staff want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

 

HOLIDAY CLOSURES - All City of Tucson governmental offices are closed for the Thanksgiving holiday, with the exception of emergency services. Businesses will resume as normal on Friday. Trash and recycling collections scheduled for Thursday and Friday will be delayed by one day.


Free Dec. 3 Veterans career workshop will help women separating/separated from military service

Career/job opportunities for women who will be separating or have separated from the U.S. military is the subject of a free workshop on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at the Kino Veterans’ Workforce Center, 2801 E. Ajo Way.


The workshop, which begins at 8:30 a.m., will discuss ways to develop career/job search strategies, and explore pathways or barriers to employment.

Road Work Update - Street Bonds

STREET BONDS ROAD RECOVERY
FOG SEAL PROGRAM

On Sunday, October 27, 2013, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will begin a fog seal program associated with the voter-approved $100 million, five-year street bond program - Road Recovery.

To minimize the impact on the traveling public, crews will be working from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. The dates and locations where the first three roadway improvements will take place are:
