Water Service Area Review Board

On August 4, 2010, the Mayor and Council adopted a Water Service Area Policy establishing a water service boundary for Tucson Water. A provision of the Water Service Area Policy was the establishment of an Administrative Review Board to allow for the appeal of denials of water service under the policy. Under this initial version of the approved Policy, the Administrative Review Board was tasked solely with reviewing if Tucson Water’s denial of water service was in accordance with the Water Service Area Policy, and was a process that was neither open to the appellant nor the public.

During the Mayor and Council Regular Session on July 9, 2013, Mayor and Council unanimously approved nine refinements to the City’s Water Service Area Policy, including a new public and open process for how denials of water service can be appealed.

How to Submit an Appeal

Upon denial of a water service request, Tucson Water Staff will inform the applicant of their right to appeal this decision.  The applicant must then prepare a written communication (e-mail, letter, etc.) and send that communication to the City of Tucson Planning and Policy Program Director. The Planning and Policy Program Director will then contact Tucson Water's Intergovernmental Affairs team to schedule the public discussion and the Intergovernmental Affairs team will inform the appellant of the date of the public discussion. The public discussion will be scheduled no less than 30 days from the time the City of Tucson receives the written appeal.
