Water Quality

Tucson Water is committed to providing its customers with timely and meaningful information about the quality of Tucson's drinking water. In an effort to improve communication, we have established a monitoring program to closely track the water quality throughout the distribution system and within Tucson's neighborhoods. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) supported our efforts to improve the collection and communication of water quality information to our customers by awarding an EMPACT grant.

Introduction to Water Quality — Background information on water quality terms and definitions, Frequently Asked Questions about water quality issues, information on Backflow Prevention, a description of Tucson's water quality monitoring program (including maps of all monitoring locations), and information on Tucson's water quality laboratory.
Emerging Water Quality Issues — Tucson is tracking those water quality issues that are emerging on the national level and what they might mean for Tucson Water and you. Recent items of interest have been the Kinder Morgan Gasoline Pipeline; Mercury; 1,4 Dioxane; Arsenic; and Radon.
Annual Water Quality Reports — Tucson's Annual Reports on Water Quality for each of the years from 1998 through 2006.
Tucson's Water Quality — Up-to-date information on the water quality of Tucson's water resources and the water quality throughout the distribution system.
Water Quality In My Neighborhood — Up-to-date information on the water quality in your water quality zone, including the most recent measures at all monitoring locations.
Tucson's EMPACT Grant — Background information on Tucson's recently awarded EMPACT Grant and what it means to all Tucson residents.
Detailed Water Quality Data — Tucson Water has been publishing the results of its monthly water quality testing since 1997. This specific data can be accessed from this section of the web site.

Tucson Water has developed a Water Quality Information Line with current information about the quality of the water we deliver. The recorded information on this phone line is updated on a regular basis and includes the most recently available monitoring results for bacteria, chlorine, hardness, pH, sodium, and total dissolved solids.
