Tucson Development Center (TDC) Online is introducing several new features to enhance the customer experience when applying for a new permit or plan.

Review Times

The City of Tucson will be adjusting review time frames in our permitting system to account for weekends and holidays. Currently, permit and plan review due dates can land on a weekend or holiday, which can result in missed or over-due reviews. Updating the review time frames to exclude weekends and holidays will lead to a more accurate due date expectation.

Examples below:

  • Item Reviews = 30 calendar days (-10) ➡ 20 working days
  • Item Reviews = 20 calendar days (-05) ➡ 15 working days
  • Item Reviews = 14 calendar days (-04) ➡ 10 working days
  • Item Reviews = 07 calendar days (-02) ➡ 05 working days
  • Item Reviews = 05 calendar days (-01) ➡ 04 working days
  • Item Reviews = 02 calendar days (-00) ➡ 02 working days
  • Permit/Plan Submittals = 30 calendar days (-10) ➡ 20 working days
  • Permit/Plan Submittals = 20 calendar days (-05) ➡ 15 working days
  • Permit/Plan Submittals = 14 calendar days (-04) ➡ 10 working days
  • Permit/Plan Submittals = 10 calendar days (-03) ➡ 07 working days
  • Permit/Plan Submittals = 07 calendar days (-02) ➡ 05 working days
  • Permit/Plan Submittals = 05 calendar days (-01) ➡ 04 working days
  • Permit/Plan Submittals = 0-2 calendar days (-00) ➡ 0-2 working days

Geo Rules

Geo rules will provide zoning information based on the property address such as historic zones, special districts, overlays and flood zones when applying for a new permit or plan. The geo rules notification will also provide resources to research the identified zone(s).

Electrical Reconnect Permit Re-Design

The Electrical Reconnect Permit process is being updated to simplify and accelerate review and inspection scheduling.

Simplified Review

Document and material uploads will no longer be required. Instead, applications will be reviewed to ensure the property has no active permits. The Electrical Reconnect Only permit is for restoring power to occupiable buildings after a period of being depowered.

This permit is not applicable for the following:

  • New electrical equipment or repairs
  • Any construction or structural activity
  • Work related to Code Enforcement cases
  • Fire restoration or reconnects that involve structural work

Non-Refundable Fee

The fee for the Electrical Reconnect Only Permit is now non-refundable. Should the application be denied or the inspection fail due to additional work required at the property, the fee will not be refunded or applied to any other permit. Please review the application details carefully before submitting.

Thank you for your cooperation as we implement these improvements to serve our community better. If you have questions, please contact pdsdinquiries@tucsonaz.gov or call us at 520-791-5550.
