Public Input Needed for Grant Road Investment District Expansion

Published on November 06, 2023

The City of Tucson is working on the development and future planning of the 3.5-mile Grant Road corridor from Campbell to Swan. This initiative includes updates to the Urban Overlay District (UOD) along the Grant Road Investment District (GRID) in coordination with the existing Grant-Alvernon Area Plan (GAAP).

The goal for the Grant Road corridor has its roots in the Grant Road Community Character & Vitality Corridor Vision (Grant Road CCV), adopted by Mayor and Council in 2015. This objective outlines a roadmap for future development along the thoroughfare.

Grant Road Investment District Survey

To ensure that the community's voices are heard and considered in shaping the future of Grant Road, residents are encouraged to complete the GRID survey to contribute their ideas for the corridor.

Open House Sessions

On October 24 and 26, 2023, Planning and Development Services (PDSD) conducted two open houses regarding the expansion of the GRID UOD. These sessions provided a platform for the community to share their thoughts and learn more about the future development of Grant Road.

Project Timeline Overview

  • Phase 1 (Fall 2023): Broad values-based listening along the Grant Road corridor.
  • Phase 2 (Winter 2023/Spring 2024): Stakeholder outreach in the Grant-Alvernon Area to draft the policy map and refine the land use plan.
  • Phase 3 (2024): Public engagement centered on the draft of the GRID UOD ordinance.
