Silverbell/Congress Road Closure

Published on April 12, 2024

On Monday, April 15, and Tuesday, April 16, 2024, Congress Street at Silverbell Road is scheduled to close to all through traffic to allow crews to install an underground water line across the roadway, just west of South Cuesta Avenue.

Travel will be detoured around the closure and directed to use Grande Avenue and Fresno Street. Crews are scheduled to work from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and open the roadway at the end of each workday. This work is associated with the current Prop 101 improvement project taking place on Silverbell Road from Congress Street to St. Mary’s Road.

Tucson Delivers Better Streets is a $100 million improvement program made possible by Tucson voters who approved a half cent sales tax increase in May 2017. Thank you in advance for your cooperation as we work to improve the quality and safety of your neighborhood streets. For more information on the Road Recovery Program visit
