Road Closures - Fourth Avenue Winter Street Fair

Beginning Thursday, December 8, 2022, at approximately noon, Fourth Avenue will close south of University Boulevard to Eighth Street, with the exception of Sixth Street, for the 53rd Annual Fourth Avenue Winter Street Fair.

Additional side street closures include Fourth Street, Fifth Street and Seventh Street between Third Avenue and Fifth Avenue, and Eighth Street from Hoff Avenue to Herbert Avenue.

All roadways are scheduled to reopen by approximately 10 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, 2022.

City of Tucson to Open Public Housing-Section 8 Waitlist in January 2023

The City of Tucson, on Tuesday, Jan. 3, will open the pre-application period for families and individuals seeking to be placed on a waitlist for public housing, and City of Tucson and Pima County Housing Choice Vouchers (Section 8). The pre-application period will continue through Tuesday, Jan. 24 and all applications received in this three-week window will be placed in a lottery.

Traffic Alert - Roger Road Pedestrian Improvement Project

UTILITY RELOCATION WORK

On Monday, November 28, 2022, crews from Tucson Electric Power are scheduled to begin utility relocation work, on Roger Road from San Rafael Avenue to Pomona Road, as part of the Roger Road Pedestrian Improvement Project. This project is associated with the voter-approved Proposition 407 Tucson Delivers Strong Connections Program.

CALL FOR PROJECTS TO ADVANCE P-CHIP GOALS

The City of Tucson Housing and Community Development Department is accepting proposals from not-for-profit organizations with capacity to advance P-CHIP goals through the following grant opportunities beginning November 21, 2023.

The City will additionally will release three additional Requests for Proposals under the P-CHIP grant round on or around the first week of January 2023.  These opportunities include: 

Traffic Alert - El Tour de Tucson

On Saturday, November 19, 2022, the 39th Annual El Tour de Tucson will take place throughout the community. The following travel restrictions and road closures will be in place for the day-long event.

Downtown – On Friday, November 18, 2022, beginning at 6 a.m., Cushing Street from Stone Avenue to El Paso Avenue will be closed to motorists.

On Saturday, beginning at 6 a.m., Sixth Avenue from 22nd Street to Broadway will be closed to motorists. Expect additional side street closures in the downtown area.

VISIT THE ZOO FOR A HOUSING RESOURCE FAIR

Get a free visit to Reid Park Zoo when you attend a housing resource fair on Friday, Nov. 18, from 1:30-4 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Admission to the Zoo is free with a wristband for those who register and are attending the workshops. Registration and check in for the workshops is at the Zoo Gate 7, next to the main admission booths. Attend informational workshops, and get information about buying a home, down payment/closing cost assistance, rental/mortgage assistance, mortgage credit repair, reverse mortgage, and much more.

Church Avenue Travel Restrictions - Tucson Holiday Ice Rink

The Tucson Holiday Ice Rink, hosted by the City of Tucson, will be located on Church Avenue, south of Broadway, in front of the Tucson Convention Center.

To accommodate the outdoor ice rink, Church Avenue between Broadway and Cushing Street will be restricted to one lane of travel in each direction, beginning November 7. This travel restriction will be in place 24-hours a day, seven days a week until Wednesday, January 18, 2023.
