The Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) hosts a website with updates on 35 projects that are in progress within member jurisdictions. The projects are referenced with the original ballot number from the voter-approved RTA special taxing district.
More than 840 roadway projects have been completed since its implementation. Some of the projects may also have received local, state, regional, or federal funding. The 20-year RTA plan is funded through June 30, 2026.
The City of Tucson is hiring an electrician to work in the Transportation department. An electrician maintains, repairs, inspects, and installs electrical street lighting and traffic signal equipment. This includes responding to situations in which traffic signal or streetlight equipment has been damaged and working in or near vehicle and pedestrian traffic at all hours and in all weather conditions.
The Thrive in the 05 Business Summit invites business owners in the Oracle Road and Miracle Mile area to a kick-off meeting to discuss programs to help local businesses learn about ways to get involved in shaping revitalization initiatives. Rio Nuevo is hosting public workshops that will be focused on enhancing the Sunshine Mile, which encompasses specific areas along Broadway Boulevard, between Euclid Avenue and Country Club Road. The workshops are intended to prompt discussions for creative land uses when road construction begins.
Five workshops are scheduled from July 29-31 and all will be held at the Leo Rich Theatre, 260 S. Church Ave. Each covers a specific area along Broadway Boulevard. Those planning to attend one or more of the workshops are asked to RSVP.
A Back to School Bash featuring free backpacks with school supplies takes place Sunday, July 28, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Oury Recreation Center, 600 W. St. Mary’s Road. A student must be present to receive a backpack and supplies, which are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Quantities are limited.

Reid Park Zoo’s annual Summer Safari Saturday Nights program runs 6-8 p.m. every Saturday until Aug. 17. Enjoy the Zoo during cooler evening temperatures with added fun, including live music from local bands, games, inflatables, food and drink specials, face painting, glitter tattoos, animal encounters, zookeeper chats, and themed evenings.
