Oracle Road at Limberlost Drive Lane Closure

On Wednesday, June 19, 2019, the southbound curb lane on Oracle Road both north and south of Limberlost Drive will be closed for paving work related to a private development project.

This one-day project is scheduled to begin at 5 a.m. and should be complete by 5 p.m. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Two lanes of traffic will be maintained for motorists traveling southbound on Oracle Road. Northbound traffic will not be affected.

Broadway, Camino Seco to Houghton Traffic Alert

On Monday, June 10, 2019, work will begin to install a new underground drainage structure on north Gollob Road from Broadway to Appomattox Street. During the work hours of 5 a.m. to 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, there will be alternating one-way travel on Gollob Road. A robotic flagging system will be positioned at each end of the work zone to direct travel during the work hours.

This traffic shift is scheduled to be in place through July 2019. During this work, those traveling in the area should expect the following:

Valencia Road Traffic Switch

With the base paving complete on the north side of Valencia Road west of Kolb Road, and the final paving complete on Valencia Road east of Kolb Road, as well as additional work taking place on the new southeast ramp, travel on Valencia Road will shift on Tuesday, June 11, 2019.

Wilmot/Golf Links Intersection Closure

On Saturday, June 8, 2019, Sunland Asphalt, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will close the Wilmot Road and Golf Links Road intersection overnight to repave a portion of the intersection.

This project is scheduled to begin Saturday at 8 p.m. and be complete by 8 a.m. Sunday, June 9. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Operation Splash 2019

Protecting the traveling public on City streets during Tucson’s summer thunderstorm season is the objective of the Tucson Department of Transportation’s (TDOT) Operation Splash campaign. As weather patterns shift to bring moisture into Tucson, crews from TDOT’s Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division are delivering barricades to hundreds of dip crossings throughout the City.

Beginning Monday, June 3, 2019, through Friday, June 7, 2019, at about 6:30 a.m. each day, TDOT crews will deliver more than 500 barricades to approximately 150 dip crossings throughout the City.

Traffic Signal Improvements - Various Locations

Crews from Next Generation Electrical, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), will work on the following days at the listed intersection locations to replace traffic signal heads with upgraded signals to accommodate flashing yellow left turn arrows.

Tuesday, May 28, 2019 – 22nd Street/Wilmot Road intersection
Wednesday, May 29, 2019 – Romero Road/Prince Road intersection
Thursday, May 30, 2019 – River Road/Oracle Road intersection

Traffic Signal Improvements - Golf Links Road and Kolb Road

On Tuesday, May 21, 2019 crews from Next Generation Electrical, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to replace traffic signal heads with upgraded signals to accommodate flashing yellow left turn arrows at the intersection of Golf Links Road and Kolb Road.

Work at the intersection will take place from about 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Grant Road Open House Phase 3 & 4 - Public Open House

The City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) and Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) invite you to attend a public open house for Grant Road Phase 3 & 4.

Grant Road Phase 3 & 4 project segment information will be available from Palo Verde to Venice Place. This will include design plans, land use planning, right-of-way acquisitions, landscape and streetscape designs as well as public art.

Houghton Road Improvement Project, Traffic Switch

Base paving operations on the west side of Houghton Road from the Union Pacific Railroad south to Interstate 10 are complete. Crews from Borderland Construction, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to shift traffic on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from the east side of Houghton road to the newly paved west side of Houghton Road.

The traffic switch is scheduled to occur at about 9 a.m. Once traffic has been shifted, crews will begin improvements on the east side of Houghton Road.

University of Arizona Commencement, Sixth Street Closure

On Friday, May 10, 2019, beginning at 4:30 p.m., Sixth Street from Warren Avenue to Martin Avenue will be closed to travel for the University of Arizona Commencement. Sixth Street will reopen to travel following the commencement ceremony.

The University of Arizona Commencement is scheduled to begin at 7:30 pm., with gates open to guests at 5:30 p.m. and an anticipated 40,000 attendees. For more information about the event, visit: https://commencement.arizona.edu/.

Houghton Road Corridor Projects - Public Open House
