Road Recovery Bond Program - Wilmot Road - Pima Street to Golf Links Road Repaving Project

On Monday, February 12, 2018, crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to begin underground electrical conduit work at the Wilmot Road and Fairmount Street intersection in preparation of an upcoming repaving project on Wilmot Road from Pima Street to Golf Links Road.

The conduit work is scheduled to be complete in early March 2018. Crews will work Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Traffic Alert - Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II Stone to Park - Eastbound Traffic Shift Hampton Street to Park Avenue

On Monday, February 12, 2018, eastbound travel on Grant Road between Hampton Street and Santa Rita Avenue will be shifted to the south side of Grant Road to allow crews to remove an existing sewer line. The sewer line removal will take place between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Following the sewer line removal, eastbound travel on this section of Grant Road will remain in this configuration for the duration of the Grant Road Improvement Project.

Traffic Alert - Speedway Boulevard / Campbell Avenue Intersection Traffic Signal Modification

On Tuesday, February 6, 2018 and on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 crews will modify traffic signals at the Speedway Boulevard and Campbell Avenue intersection.  Work hours will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. During the work, the traffic signals will not be in operation and Tucson Police officers will direct travel at the intersection.

Road Recovery Bond Program - Craycroft Road - Grant Road to 29th Street Repaving Project

Crews from Southern Arizona Paving and Construction Co, under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT), are scheduled to begin lowering manhole covers and water valve covers on Craycroft Road from Grant Road to 29th Street on Monday, January 29, 2018, in preparation of an upcoming repaving project. With over 200 covers to lower, the work is scheduled to be complete by early March 2018. Crews will work Monday through Thursday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Houghton Road / Golf Links Road Traffic Signal Pole Replacement

On Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 6:30 a.m., PACE Electrical Construction Inc., under contract with the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) will replace the traffic signal pole at the intersection of Houghton Road and Golf Links Road for southbound traffic. The work is scheduled to be complete by 11 a.m.  During the work, Tucson Police Department officers will direct traffic through the intersection.

Please use caution when traveling through this area and watch for work crews and personnel providing traffic control.

 

Naylor Neighborhood - Changemaker High School Bridge Dedication

To commemorate the completion of pedestrian improvements and water harvesting basins for the Naylor Neighborhood and Changemaker High School, Pima County, the City of Tucson and students from Changemaker High School invites the public to attend a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new pedestrian bridge at the Swan Park Wash.

Grant Road Improvement Project Phase II Stone to Park - Water Line/Sewer Manhole Work

Traffic on First Avenue, north of Grant Road will be shifted to allow work crews to install a new underground water line across First Avenue. The work will begin on Monday, December 11, 2017 and is scheduled to be complete by Wednesday, December 20, 2017. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Work will not take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, December 15 through December 17. During the work, northbound First Avenue will be reduced to one travel lane and southbound travel will continue to have two travel lanes.

Tucson Department of Transportation Initiates Operation Freeze

Beginning at approximately 2:30 p.m. today, crews from the City of Tucson Department of Transportation (TDOT) Streets and Traffic Maintenance Division will initiate Operation Freeze in preparation of freezing temperatures tonight. Operation Freeze is put into place to make sure City bridge decks are free of ice and safe for motorists to drive over.

Fourth Avenue Street Fair - Sun Link Streetcar Temporary Route Adjustments

Fourth Avenue will be the host of the annual Fourth Avenue Winter Street Fair this weekend.  The Fourth Avenue Winter Street Fair begins on Friday, December 8, 2017 and is open daily through Sunday December 10, 2017 from 10 a.m., until 5:30 p.m.  Attendance for the Street Fair is estimated to be approximately 300,000 people, so please adjust travel plans accordingly.

Asphalt Removal and Haul - Stone to First/Euclid Intersection Flagging Operations

Crews are currently removing the existing asphalt on the north side of Grant Road from Stone Avenue to First/Euclid Avenue. The pulverized asphalt will be hauled to storage locations along the right-of-way on Grant Road from Tuesday, December 5, 2017 through Thursday, December 7, 2017. To lessen the impact on the traveling public, trucks will haul the pulverized asphalt during non-peak travel hours – 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Traffic Alert - El Tour de Tucson

Downtown Tucson will be the host of the 35th El Tour de Tucson, Arizona’s largest and longest running bicycling event. Held annually on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, El Tour is a fund-raising adventure ride attracting over 9,000 cyclists of all ages and abilities from throughout the United States and worldwide. The 106-mile start line (and finish line for all events) is located at Armory Park on South Sixth Avenue at 13th Street.

Houghton Road Bridge Over Union Pacific Railroad Girder Delivery Delayed

The delivery and installation of bridge girders for the new Houghton Road Bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) has been delayed by one day. Girders will now be delivered and installed on Thursday, November 9, 2017 and Friday, November 10, 2017, as well as on Monday, November 13, 2017 and Tuesday, November 14, 2017.

The bridge girders for the new Houghton Road Bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) will be delivered and installed on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 through Friday, November 10, 2017. Motorists using Houghton Road, Rita Road, Mary Ann Cleveland Way and Old Vail Road are urged to use caution when traveling these roadways when the girders are delivered. Flaggers will be present to assist in the delivery of the bridge girders to the project site.

A total of 18 girders will be delivered and installed over the three-day period. Haul times will be 6 a.m. through 4 p.m. each day.
