Description
This project was divided into two Phases: Phase 1. Work on the intersection of Sabino Canyon Road and Tanque Verde and Phase 2. Connecting Sabino to Kolb Road.

Phase 1: Widening and reconstruction of the existing intersection to accommodate additional through lanes for north and south bound travel along with pedestrian, bicycle, landscape, and drainage improvements (completed 9/2012).
Phase 2: The scope consists of designing and constructing a roadway that connects Sabino Canyon Road from Tanque Verde to Kolb Road. The new roadway will consist of 4 travel lanes, 2 bridges, raised medians, noise walls, a storm drain system, landscaping, bicycle lanes, sidewalk, and multi-use paths.
This project creates an additional north/south arterial corridor that will alleviate the congestion at the Grant/Kolb/Tanque Verde intersection by roughly 14%. That in turn will improve the air quality and level of service for the intersection while also reducing emergency response time to residents in the Udall Neighborhood Association.
