Description
Replace aging plant equipment and infrastructure to provide continuity of service to Police Headquarters, Fire Headquarters and the TCC Complex.  
Additional Info
Critical pieces of existing equipment in the Central Plant are from 20 to 40 years old and must be replaced.

Project #74 - Status

02-Jul-12 Project substantially complete and in the warrantee phase. Punchlist is being completed. Awaiting record plans in order to complete General Construction Contract.
05-Jun-12 All major equipment has been installed and is operating. Testing, balancing, system integration and commissioning is underway.
07-May-12 Third chiller has been set in place and is being connected to the system. Heating system modifications are underway.
05-Apr-12 Two new chillers along with associated pumps are operational. The third and final chiller will be set in place on April 24th. Once set in place this chiller will be connected to the system. Heating system modifications are pending.
07-Mar-12 Two of three new chillers scheduled to be operational on or about 3/27/2012. Third chiller installation delayed due to TCC events. Schedule pushed into June in order to perform some unanticipated heating water system piping modifications.
01-Feb-12 Two of three new chillers set in-place and being connected. Plant chilled water shutdown scheduled for 3/19 - 3/21. Temporary cooling to be provided. After completion of this shutdown new chillers we be in operation. Construction on-going.
03-Jan-12 Chillers have arrived in Tucson. Two of three chillers will be set in place in January. Hook-up of the two chillers will take place in February and March. The third chiller will be installed and hooked-up after Chillers #1 and #2 are operational.
07-Dec-11 Chillers will be delivered in January, 2012. Chillers 1 & 2 to be set in place between January 15 and January 18, 2012. Hook-up of Chillers 1 & 2 will take place thru February 2012. Chiller #3 to be installed after Chillers 1 & 2 are operational.
01-Nov-11 Phase II nearly complete. Boilers inspected and operational. Full automatic control of the heating system is pending. Phase III (chilled water system) guaranteed maximum price has been executed and contract awarded. Demolition has begun. Chiller testing will be in December.
04-Oct-11 Phase II (boilers and heating system) permitted and under construction. Chiller equipment purchase awarded under Phase II. Phase III (chilled water system) design has been approved for permits, the guaranteed maximum price (GMP) has been submitted by the contractor and is under review. Phase III GMP under negotiation, anticipate award by mid-October.
06-Sep-11 Phase II (boilers and heating system) permitted and under construction. Chiller equipment purchase awarded under Phase II. Phase III (chilled water system) design has been approved for permits, the guaranteed maximum price (GMP) has been submitted by the contractor and is under review. Anticipate award of Phase III by the end of September.
02-Aug-11 Phase II (boilers and heating system) permitted and under construction. Chiller equipment purchase awarded under Phase II. Phase III (chilled water system) design has been submitted for building permit approval and the guaranteed maximum price (GMP) for construction is being prepared.
07-Jul-11 Phase II (boilers and heating system) permitted and under construction. Chiller equipment purchase awarded under Phase II. Phase III (chilled water system) design to be submitted for permits by 7/15/2011.
Submit Phase III plans for permit approval. Finalize and negotiated guaranteed maximum price for Phase III.
02-Jun-11 Phase I (condenser water system) is substantially complete. Phase II (boilers and heating system) has been submitted for permits. Phase III (chillers and chilled water system) has completed design review and will be submitted for permits in early June.
03-May-11 Phase I (cooling towers and condenser water system) construction is 90% complete. Phase II (boilers and heating system) design is scheduled to be submitted for permits on 5/9/2011. Phase III (chillers and chilled water system) is scheduled for a 95% design review on 5/9/2011.
11-Apr-11 Phase I (cooling towers and condenser water system) construction is about 70% complete. Two of three new towers are installed and operational. Phase II (boilers and heating water system) design is scheduled for 95% review on 4/19/2011. Phase III (chillers and chilled water system) design is being revised a little in coordinatation with design completion of the Phase II work.
02-Mar-11 Phase I (cooling towers and condenser water system) construction is about 35% complete. Cooling towers have been delivered. Phase I completion is scheduled for May 2011. Phase II (heating hot water system) design is under review for cost savings. Phase III (chillers and chilled water system) 95% plans are under review and estimating.
03-Feb-11 Phase I (cooling towers and condenser water system) construction has begun. Cooling towers have been delivered. Phase I completion is scheduled for May 2011. Phase II (heating hot water system) design is under review for cost savings. Phase III (chillers and chilled water system) 95% plans are under review.
05-Jan-11 Phase I (cooling tower and condenser water system replacement) construction to begin January 2011 with completion May 2011. Phase II (heating hot water system) under final design review. Phase III (chiller and chilled water system replacements) at roughly 60% design.
02-Dec-10 Phase I (cooling tower and condenser water system) plans approved for permit. General Contractor for project selected. Currently negotiating for Phase I work. Tentative cooling tower installation in early January 2011. Project in budget. Independent cost estimator hired.
02-Nov-10 Phase I (cooling tower and condenser water system) plans submitted for permit.
Construction Manager at Risk short list of three qualified firms has been completed. Interviewing firms for final selection of the most qualified in November. The heating hot water system plans and specifications are under review at 95% complete. Budget estimates completed and under review.
