Intended Purpose: To graphically define the UA's Planning Area boundary for map display
A single multi-part polygon which defines the UA's Planning Area boundary, or growth boundary, for the main campus. The boundary was initially established in the 1960's and has been updated several times since, with the most recent in the mid-1990's.
Originally created by a firm, DTM, who contracted with the UA to aerially map the campus and create a GIS dataset. It was created as part of aerial mapping conducted in 1996. Originally provided to UA in ArcInfo and AutoCad formats, it was subsequently refined by internal staff. Currently resides in the campus GeoDatabase.
If UA administrative action were taken to revise the boundary, PDC staff would adjust this Feature Class accordingly. Will be maintained by Staff within UA PDC. Generally doesn't change. Last change was in around 1996.
There may currently be some fields/attributes that were inherited form earlier formats, but they are unused.
Grant will send an updated layer if necessary.

|Use Constraints||The lines were interpreted from less accurate paper maps onto the more accurate GIS basemap. For example, the curbline on the UA side of perimeter streets was used to position the boundary in such locations. In roughly 15 years of using such interpretations there have been no issues.|
