There are two citizen committees that advise the Mayor, City Council and City departments on matters related to biking and walking in Tucson: the Tucson-Pima County Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) and the Pedestrian Advisory Committee (PAC)

Tucson-Pima County Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) 

 

FUNCTIONS

  1. To confer with and advise the governing bodies of the City and County on community concerns relating to bicycling.
  2. To organize community programs and projects to provide information and education to the community on bicycling.
  3. To review and make recommendations on proposed local, state and federal legislation relating to bicycling.
  4. To act as an official advisory agency to the City and County governing bodies for technical questions and concerns relating to bicycling.
  5. To render an annual report of Committee activities to the governing bodies of the City and County, and to file minutes of Committee meetings with the two governing bodies.
  6. To recommend such actions to the governing bodies of the City and the County as the Committee deems necessary for desirable to accomplish the above functions, and to put its policy into practice.

MEETING TIME & LOCATION

Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Ward 6 City Council office, 3202 E 1st St.

City of Tucson Pedestrian Advisory Committee (PAC)

 

MISSION

To identify and set priorities in policies, programs and projects to create a complete pedestrian environment for Tucson. 

GOALS

  1. Policy & Implementation | Promote and improve connectivity and quality of pedestrian network for all users
  2. Pedestrian Funding | Advocate for prioritization of funding for pedestrian safety
  3. Expertise | Serve as the city’s expert resource in creating a safe and complete pedestrian community
  4. Education, Promotion, Enforcement | Help increase public awareness on pedestrian safety issues as well as the benefits of a walkable community

MEETING TIME & LOCATION

Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Ward 6 City Council office, 3202 E 1st St.

With other community members, advise the City of Tucson on ways to improve walking and biking safety, accessibility, and comfort. We are now accepting applications for Tucson residents who are interested in joining the Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) and the Pedestrian Advisory Committee (PAC).
